The Hexagon Technology Safety Control System (SCS) is designed based on the latest Programmable Application Control (PAC) technology. The system is uniquely designed and configured as a fail-safe, fault tolerant or a hybrid of both. Its small footprint makes it ideal for upgrades of legacy installations that require meeting a SIL rating. The reliability of the individual components which allow for the extended service life and embedded diagnostics are considered. Because the system is based on off-the-shelf technology, spare parts are available globally through its global distributor network. The following diagrams shows the components of the system. The Safety Control Unit is the backbone of the system and is designed as an independent Safety Diagnostic Unit (SDU) for reliable system operation and status specially designed for SIL 2 and SIL 3 Applications. The CPU in the SCU also serves as a local environment data collector that receives data from distributed microprocessor based sensors for O2, CO, CO2, methane, Temperature.
